think that's wrong. but if you look at, for example, the state that the president was in today, nevada, there is a republican hispanic governor in the state, very popular, brian sandoval. you look at new mexico republican hispanic governor susana martinez. part of the problem republicans have communicating to hispanics is the total utter toxicity of the republican brand, the washington, d.c. brand. but once you're able to break out of that d.c. brand, republicans are able to put an imprint that is appropriate for nevada or new mexico on the party. and you're finding success there. now, i don't think that the numbers that you talked about on those issues are permanent. republicans when we just finish the presidential election where we were doomed by comments like the 47%, we need to have a message that reaches out to every american, is about empowerment, is about climbing the socio-economic ladder, about revitalizing the american middle class that has been in decline. we have to talk about those things. we have to have plans that are grounded in reality to deal with the problems that am

a few light snowshowers up towards the sierra nevada. most of those look like they are long gone. one line of thunderstorms very severe through oklahoma city. tornado warnings out here on the back side of that, freezing rain and snow. that's the forecast for oklahoma city. all in one lane. severe weather, then turning snow by tonight. if you are heading to new orleans, that system move -- moving over oklahoma is on its way there. if you have a flight, maybe a red eye, it could get bumpy there, especially if you are coming in around 2:00, 3:00 in the morning. by about 9:00, 10:00 in the morning, most of that will be gone. there will be a severe line going in there tomorrow. 30s, 40s, near 50 degrees. 49 half moon bay. the cloud cover though is really saving us from being much, much colder. a lot of high clouds. chilly start. upper 50s, low 60s on the temps. everyone again, not much of a difference. only about a 6-degree spread between the coolest high temperatures. gilroy, 62, the warmest, everyone else is close. upper 50s or low 60s. tomorrow we should clear out the cloud cover. sunny

the missile used in that attack is actually thousands of miles away in virginia, say, or nevada rather than him or herself actually being at the battlefield. but the idea that the ethically relevant thing about a drone is how far away you the trigger puller are from the explosion or the damage that you cause with your weapon, that is a quantitative matter. that is not a qualitative matter. we have always been able to project force far away from the person who is exerting it. the ethical sensitivity here is really not about the particular type of weapon of war we are using. it is that we are killing people using that weapon of war in place that's aren't war zones. and that is the unnerving consequence of the whole yfd a war on terror or a war against a non-state actor that could be anywhere in the world and that therefore designates that war as taking place everywhere. the most frequent outside a war zone place where our government carries out these kinds of attacks is of course in pakistan. in 2010 we saw what the obama administration was going to be like on this score. there was a u.s. dro

owner. he's from the gun rights state of nevada. he has been very cautious saying that the senate should be cautious, but my understanding from talking to a number of sources is that he's speaking for himself but he's also speaking from the perspective of political reality, that there are a number of people in his caucus who would potentially really get slammed for supporting anything. so that's why he wants to take it slow. he doesn't want his people to walk the plank and suddenly not be the senate majority, lose the majority. but the other thing i think is really important to keep in mind is just how different this is. kind of taking it up to 5,000 or 10,000 feet. i cannot tell you how many times after so many of these tragedies, after one of their own gabby giffords was shot, calling up senate democratic sources saying, are you going to do anything? nope. nothing's changed. after aurora, nope, nothing's changed. n newtown changed the dialogue, the decision at the white house and here in congress by some to put this issue, again, which was very, very difficult. for ten years democrats
